Jim’s practice focuses on estate planning, probate, and guardianships, including matters involving elder law.  He also has significant family law experience that compliments his estate planning practice.

Common estate planning tools Jim utilizes with his clients include wills, trust, powers of attorney, and marital property agreements.   Jim focuses on educating his clients so they understand what happens if they have no plan in place, what estate planning tools are appropriate in light of their unique circumstances, and what needs to be done to make sure their estate plan performs as intended.   His clients include individuals and families of all ages and walks of life.

Jim was born in Madison, Wisconsin and has lived and worked throughout Wisconsin both in small towns and large metropolitan areas.  He has a bachelor’s degree in music education and performance, and he spent eight years teaching instrumental and general music in the public schools in Anoka, Minnesota before going to law school.  He continues to actively perform and teach music.  Jim lives in Wauwatosa’s East Town neighborhood where he is a member of Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church.
